Jimmy Doohan

Once, many moons ago, I had the distinct pleasure of meeting Mr. Jimmy Doohan, our beloved Chief Engineer Montgomery Scott.  While the occasion was a Star Trek convention, this did not happen among the masses with all the other costumed freaks.  This meeting happened on Friday evening.  I had splurged this time and decided to stay the night before the Saturday convention day.  As I had some time to kill that Friday evening, I wandered into the hotel bar to have a drink or two and kick back.  I struck up a conversation with another gal who was also there for the convention, and we settled at one of the low tables.

After a bit of time, a gentlemen came over and asked if he could join us.  We both looked up, and there he was, Jimmy himself.  Now, you know there was no way either of us was going to turn him down.  We spent a couple of lovely hours conversing with him about all sorts of random generic things, family, friends, etc.  He shared pictures of his home and family.

It was just a marvelous and wondrous evening.  I miss that man.  Rest in peace, Mr. Scott.
